My family rarely plans group outings.
We haven't taken family pictures since 2001.
I am thankful that I'm at least invited to Christmas this year because:
I wasn't invited to Christmas last year.
I asked if last year's gift (a gourmet cake) was acceptable, and Dad said yes. I also heard it was small, but that's probably because they served it to everyone after dinner. This year, my presence is optional, but my presents are not (I checked).
So, I bought presents for everyone. I hope they like them.
If not, I'll book on a flight to Massachusetts to spend next Christmas with my mom's side of the family.
